When did you start CrossFitting? Who/what got you started?10 years ago (2008). I had been watching my husband (Jeran) do Crossfit at our globo gym while I was pregnant with baby #2. We both watched Crossfit videos and read the online journal almost every night, so by the time our daughter arrived I was ready to jump in.What is your favorite/least favorite WOD?Favorite; Cindy or AnnieLeast favorite: anything with OHS or Thrusters What is your favorite/least favorite movement? Favorite; CleansLeast; OHSTell us a little bit about yourself (family, job, sports, interests, etc.)Jeran Kuenzie’s arm candy/sugar mama ;P , proud mama of Owen 11, Addison 10 and Ethan 7My profession is a National Marketing Director for a company that found a way to put fruits & vegetables into a capsule/gummie. Business coach & trainer for a team of 1200 awesome people and corporate speaker/trainer.
I was a collegiate soccer player. If I am not Crossfitting I am playing tennis, doing yoga or barre. I am a coffee & whiskey connoisseur. I am curious about all things healthy living and have a goal to live to 120 years old.
What was your workout routine before CrossFit? Probably something with bodyweight movements What did you think after your first CrossFit workout? For all the time I had spent in the globo side of the gym I was humbled how out of shape I was BUT I was postpartum so I gave myself grace. “Started from the bottom...”What were your goals when joining CrossFit? Have you achieved any of those goals? My goals were to look more like the Crossfit girls and to be well rounded prepared for the unknown and unknowable that life may throw at me. It increased my confidence in all areas of life.I am way fitter at 40 than I ever was as a collegiate athlete in my 20’s!Has CrossFit affected your life outside the gym?It is priceless to have something Jeran and I can do together apart from the kids and will continue to have once they are all grown and out of the house. It has given us a powerful vehicle to role model for our kids because exercise is so important today and we both wish we would have had this tool when we were high school athletes. Crossfit is an extended family no matter where we go.
Do you have any other special memories/ achievements during your time here?People say when you move to a new area it takes 2-3 years before it feels like “home.” Jeran and I tried 5 different Crossfit gyms when we moved here and we choose 913. We are so grateful that we did because I would say OP has felt like “home” in 6 months because of our Crossfit family. What advice would you give to a newbie just joining CrossFit 913?This is the most INCLUSIVE place on Earth. If you are open, no matter your current level of fitness or goals, you can find your tribe here. But you have to SHOW UP. You have to smile, make eye contact and say hello.913 has some of the best coaches I have ever met and we have been to a lot of Crossfit gyms across the US. They will meet you where you are at. After my shoulder surgery, I was able to still come to the gym and have every workout scaled to my abilities.Something you might not know about me is?I am a little bit of a thrill seeker...I have bungee jumped, went skydiving x 2 (once at the highest tandem jump in the world) and walked across fire to name a few.
