June Female Member Spotlight - Stephanie Hauser

When did you start CrossFitting? Who/what got you started?

I started CrossFit about 3 years ago. A friend of mine that I worked with opened his own starter gym and I was hooked after the first class.

What is your favorite/least favorite WOD?

I really hate anything with running. Cardio is not my friend. I like EMOM’s and workouts with a time cap ;)

What is your favorite/least favorite movement?

Cleans are my favorite thing to do! Least favorite would be running & wall-balls.

Tell us a little bit about yourself (family, job, sports, interests, etc.)

I’ve been married to my best friend for 8 years. Our son, Cameron is almost 11 and is the coolest kid I know! I work for Title Boxing headquarters where I help design custom apparel and belts for amateur and pro fighters. I’ve met some really amazing people in the boxing industry and absolutely love what I do! I’m literally addicted to coffee and cannot even think straight until I’ve had a cup or 7 : )

What was your workout routine before CrossFit?

I didn’t really have an exercise routine before I started CrossFit. I was overweight and finally decided to make a change. I’ve lost over 40 pounds since I started my journey!

What did you think after your first CrossFit workout?

I thought I was going to die. Literally die. But I also loved how good and accomplished I felt after it was over.

What were your goals when joining CrossFit? Have you achieved any of those goals?

My goals were to get leaner and stronger. Yes, I’ve definitely reached those goals and continue to chase new ones every day!

Has CrossFit affected your life outside the gym?

Absolutely! I have energy and confidence now that I never had before. Plus, I’ve met some really amazing people who are like family to me now.

Do you have any other special memories/ achievements during your time here?

I participated in the CrossFit Open this year which was something I’ve been too scared to try. It was an amazing experience! I’ve only been at 913 for 4 months and have already hit several PR’s as well as participated in the nutrition challenge which I’ve had a lot of success with. I’ve met really great and motivating people who make me want to get up at 4:30am and come to class. Thank you 913 for making me better : )

What advice would you give to a newbie just joining CrossFit 913?

Don’t compare yourself to anyone else. Just show up and do the best YOU can do. There are days when you feel good and you crush a workout and there are days when you feel discouraged and can barely get through it. That’s part of the process. Just keep going. Give yourself time to learn and remember, everyone starts as a beginner. If you want to get better, you keep showing up and giving it all you’ve got!

Something you might not know about me is?

I love old Black & White movies.
