When did you start CrossFitting?

-I started doing crossfit January of this year.

Who/what got you started?

-I have a couple of friends who were doing crossfit and raved about the results it provided for them. Another reason was my desire to improve my overall fitness and health.

What is your favorite/least favorite WOD?-I did Murph twice over the Memorial Day weekend. Although it was a brutal test I really enjoyed it from the standpoint of what it represented. Honoring heroes of the military. What is your favorite/least favorite movement?-I would say my favorite movements are handstand push-ups or handstand walks. I guess I've always been comfortable upside down. My least favorite movement would probably be thrusters.Tell us a little bit about yourself (family, job, sports, interests, etc.)-I have an 8 year old daughter named Lauren and soon to be step sons Lucas 6 and Rex 8, I recently just got engaged to my best friend Stacey in Charleston, SC. I've been in medical sales (orthopedics) for the last 11 years. I enjoy spending time with my family, fishing and doing just about anything outdoors like hiking and camping.

What was your workout routine before CrossFit?- I honestly never had a true workout routine before crossfit. I just went in spurts between lifting some and at other times run some. What did you think after your first CrossFit workout?- It truly was humbling. I saw how amazing the athletes we have at this box are. I couldn't do hardly any movements with much proficiency. I couldn't lift much weight at all. I couldn't even consider doing the workouts rx.What were your goals when joining CrossFit? Have you achieved any of those goals?- My main and only goal in joining the gym was truly just to get into better shape. I definitely think I have accomplished my original goal and only look forward to setting more advanced goals for myself as I continue to progress.Has CrossFit affected your life outside the gym?- It certainly has, its given me more energy. It's given me a reason to be excited about remaining fit again!

Do you have any other special memories/ achievements during your time here?

- The best part about my time here so far has been the incredible athletes I've met and their support and efforts in the gym. They are all inspirations!

What advice would you give to a newbie just joining CrossFit 913?

-Practice weaknesses outside of class time. Spend a few minutes before or after class each time working on things you need to improve on. I think that helps immensely shorten the learning curve.
