When did you start CrossFitting? Who/what got you started?

I started Crossfit in December 2014, after listening to my neighbors, Mary and Tyler Seals talk about it all the time. #doyouevencrossfit

What is your favorite/least favorite WOD?

I love EMOM's and partner WOD's. My least favorite WOD is Randy, 75 snatches for time about killed me.

What is your favorite/least favorite movement?

I really enjoy everything Crossfit, but could be persuaded to skip for toast, if the WOD includes snatches or thrusters.

Tell us a little bit about yourself (family, job, sports, interests, etc.)

I was born and raised in Kansas City and I'm the youngest of four. I went to school at the University of Louisville, but moved back to Kansas City and started working at Novastar Mortgage. That's where I meant my husband Chris. We've been married for six years and have the sweetest little boy Mason (5). I stay at home and love every minute of being a sport cheering, superhero, nerf gun shooting boy mom. When I'm not spending time with my family, then I'm most likely working out or shopping. Mason says, "My dad goes to work and my mom, she works out."

What was your workout routine before CrossFit?

Before Crossfit I was at Lifetime Fitness. I usually would cycle, run or take a group fitness class. I was in great shape, but wasn't getting the definition I was wanting. And nobody talks there...so boring!

What did you think after your first CrossFit workout?

I loved it!!! It was a Saturday partner workout that had 100-100-100-100 of box jumps, burpees and I can't remember what else. I was hooked and signed up the next day. I loved it so much I went to 5:15am, every day before my husband went to work. Now I'm a 9:30am unicorn and bring Mason whenever he's off school. Thanks for the kids room!

What were your goals when joining CrossFit?

I wanted to be able to do a pull-up before I turned 31.

Have you achieved any of those goals?

Yes, 6 months after I started I was able to do kipping pull-ups and a couple strict!! I love the feeling of having Rx next to my name on WODs with pull-ups. Now my goals to get 21 unbroken by the end of October.

Has CrossFit affected your life outside the gym?

I've made so many great friends from Crossfit, that are like a second family. Man, do we laugh and have fun!

Do you have any other special memories/ achievements during your time here?

When I hit my 105# PR clean at the competition in January. I know it looked terrible, but I fought, and was so excited! I remember everyone was cheering me on and I ran to give Brady a hug. I'm sure it's floating around on Youtube, on how not to clean, but I thought it was awesome and unicorns are awesome...

What advice would you give to a newbie just joining CrossFit 913?

Don't give up! We all started somewhere and everyone at Crossfit 913 are here to support and cheer you on. The community makes Crossfit 913 like no other gym.

Something you might not know about me is?

Since doing the Lurong Challenge I try to eat pretty much Paleo. I love researching healthy recipes, meal prepping and cooking delicious dinners and treats for my family and friends. I always thought I would like to be a nutritionist, so that's probably why I enjoy sharing healthy advice with others.
