This week at KSAC

Winter has a funny way of shrinking our world. Cold temps, short days, and suddenly our “movement radius” becomes the couch → kitchen → car → gym → couch. This week’s newsletter is all about expanding that radius again, reconnecting with our community, and leaning into the fun side of fitness.

Let’s dive in.

Monthly Step Challenge

This month’s challenge is all about low-intensity movement outside of your workout hour.

Why steps?
Because fitness isn’t just what happens during class—it’s what happens the other 23 hours of the day. Walking improves circulation, recovery, joint health, and overall energy levels without beating you up.

Winter makes this tougher, no doubt. But that’s exactly why it matters.

Goals to aim for:

  • 🎯 8,000–10,000 steps per day
  • Spread throughout the day (consistency > cramming them all in at night)
  • Short walks count—movement snacks matter

How to log your steps:
Log your daily steps in the KSAC App under Workouts.
👉 A quick how-to video is embedded below to show you exactly where to log.

Think of this challenge as building a foundation. Strength and intensity are the bricks—but daily movement is the mortar that holds it all together.

Upcoming Events

‍The Lou Workout

What: The Live Like Lou Foundation's mission is to create and connect communities to stimulate emerging ALS research and uniquely support families affected by Lou Gehrig’s disease. We do this in honor of MLB Hall of Famer Lou Gehrig and the 30,000 individuals in North America living with ALS.
When: Saturday, January 31st
Where: Right here at KSAC

  • 8:00am CrossFit classes will perform the workout
  • 9:15am Sweat will complete a mini version during conditioning

Why it matters:
Patrick met the founder of this event back at the 2025 CrossFit Games, and the mission behind The Lou Workout left a lasting impression. It’s a powerful example of how fitness can be used as a platform for remembrance, service, and community.

Come move with purpose.
